Who We Are

I’m Laura, the founder of DECADES, and travel has shaped my life in ways I never could have predicted. From surfing in Morocco and the Philippines to skiing in the Alps, exploring remote villages in Vietnam in the Mekong Delta to discovering hidden cocktail bars in Nicaraguan cities, every trip has given me something—new perspectives, unexpected friendships, and the confidence to embrace the unknown.

I’ve learned that the hardest part of adventure isn’t the journey itself—it’s making the decision to go. But the people who take that leap? They come back with stories, friendships, and a renewed sense of purpose. I want to make that decision easier for you.

I started DECADES because I saw a gap: so many people like you—curious, independent, ready for something life-changing—want to explore the world, but the traditional options don’t fit. Cruises? Too limiting. Group tours? Too rigid. Backpacking? Too…hostel-y. That’s why I created a better way.

And I give your group your very own guide that I’ve stringently selected to accompany you for your whole trip - they’ll work part time, but always be on call. They’ll stay either near your house, or sometimes with you!
